Delightful Quote of the Day

Quote #1:

One of the funniest and grossed moments of my life happened just now... My 2 year old Jonah just snuck up behind me while I was laying on the couch and put a banana peel right on my FACE while screaming "Rrraaaaaarr, its an octopus!"

Quote #2:

Jonah starts kissing me with big, opened mouth slobbery kisses. He keeps kissing me and kissing me until I can't stop laughing. He then abruptly stops, looks at me and says, "You're not a frog." This is a reference to his favorite movie "The Princess and Frog" or what he likes to call "Tiana." I do LOVE those slobbery kisses!

Delightful Quote of the Day

Quote #1

I am sweeping the floor. Annalise walks around scanning the different dust piles. She picks up a piece of cereal out of the dust pile! Mortified I yell:

Me:        "Don't eat that! That's trash!"
Annalise:  Puts the cereal in her mouth..."Mmmm, I like to eat trash..." rubs her tummy "trash is gooooood."

Quote #2

Annalise:  "Mommy, you are such a good Mommy. You talk to me about my problems and my feelings."

Awww, love to hear stuff like that!

Delightful Quote of the Day

While driving in the car in total silence...

Annalise:     "Mommy, I want to be a giant."
Me:            "You do? Why's that?"
Annalise     "Because giants have magic beans and grow big bean-stocks and live in the clouds."

At first, I was totally amused, but on second thought, that actually does sound kinda nice :)

Delightful Quote of the Day

Today was shopping day! The kids and I went to Target to get some new spring/summer clothes and, boy, did they have some cute stuff! I walked around and said, "Look, Annalise, isn't this adorable?" She totally took that and ran with it grabbing clothes and saying, "Look Mom, adorable!" She said this over and over, and pretty soon little Jonah started grabbing dresses and skirts saying "dorabul" which means "adorable" in 20 month old speak. The kicker was when Annalise put a very girly little knit cardigan on Jonah and then said, "Oh, this won't work, it's too small."  But Jonah was having too much fun with it and wouldn't take it off and insisted on carrying it around the store. A couple of ladies standing near just bust up laughing at their little interaction.

Delightful Quote of the Day

This one from 19 month old Jonah!

You know you are raising up a good little man when this conversation happens:

Changing a poopy diaper...

Jonah:     "Poopy all gone?"
Me:        "Yep, it's all gone, Buddy."
Jonah:     "Dank Coo, Mommy (translation- Thank you, Mommy)
Me:         happy and surprised, I've never been thanked for changing a diaper before
               "You're welcome, you little Angel"
Jonah:     "Welcome" (translation- you're welcome)

He is so polite and adorable! It just made my day! He also said, "Bye, Love You" as he left the room earlier.
I am so blessed to have such a sweet boy!

Delightful Quote of the Day

Quote #1-

Reading a book about princess weddings...
Me:  "Annalise, are you going to marry a handsome prince someday."
Annalise:  "No."
Me:  acting surprised, "You're Not?"
Annalise:  "No, I just want to marry Daddy someday." And she climbed into Daddy's arms. So adorable!

Quote #2-

Annalise loves to sing along to the song "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga so when it came on the radio in the car last night I turned it up and said, "Annalise, you know this song" and sure enough she started singing along. Then she stopped so I looked back at her and she said, "I don't want her to poke my face." I burst out laughing, she thought the lyrics were "poke her face."

I then found myself explaining what a poker face is to a 3 year old so she would know we don't listen to songs about hurting other people :)

Delightful Quote of the Day

My husband started playing the organ this Sunday for our Church. My kids and I sat in the third row to watch Daddy's big debut. The first song we heard him play was a very serious and reverent song and the congregation was very quiet. When the song stopped, in the dead silence, my 18 month old started clapping and my almost three year old shouted, "Good Job, Daddy" for everyone to hear! Then my little guy made a break for it and ran up to the organ! Needless to say, we spent the remainder of the meeting in the hall.

Delightful Quote of the Day

Me (yelling from a different room) : Annalise, we are going to the park. We need to put our socks and shoes on. Do you have socks on right now?

Annalise: No, I don't have socks on. I just have my feet on.

Delightful Quotes of the Day

Quote #1

Annalise:  Mommy, I think I want another baby in your tummy.

Me:  Maybe someday, but not for a little while. You know, you use to be in Mommy's tummy?

Annalise:  Yes and I want to go back in your tummy and play with some toys.

Quote #2

Annalise is sitting in her little red Cozy Coupe car.

Annalise (shouting):   Dada, I need some money!

Me:  What do you need money for?

Annalise:  I need some money for my car. DADA I NEED SOME MONEY...MONEY!

Me to Bryant:  I don't think this is the last time we will hear that.

Delightful Quote of the Day

Annalise was doing a puzzle and one of the animals in the puzzle was a newt.

Me: When I was a little girl I had a pet newt named Jazzy, but he ran away one night to go live in the backyard.

Annalise: Ohhhhh...so you ate your newt?

Me: NO! I wouldn't eat a newt, he just ran away.

Annalise: You WOULD eat a newt, you Little Stinker! You would eat a newt with your juice.

Delightful Quote of the Day

Ah, the life of a mother of toddlers...

More like AHHHHHH the life of the mother of toddlers!

I got the kids all dressed to go out to a store this afternoon. Jonah found a crayon and started to suck on it, but it wasn't just any crayon, it was one of those "dry erase crayons" and it melted all over his face and shirt. I rushed him over to the kitchen sink but had to leave him there just a split second to grab a clean rag and when I looked up he was drinking dirty dish water from a measuring cup he pulled out of sink! GROSS!!!

Me: No, no, no, no, no.... generally freaking out

Annalise: Mama, today I am going to be your mother.

Me: You are? Why is that? (expecting some response like, "Well, from the looks of it, you really need one...)

Annalise: Because you need some one to take care of you right now. (She said in the sweetest little voice)

Now I will spend the rest of the day praying Jonah didn't contract some disease from the dirty dish water and enjoy being "mothered" by my 2 year old!

Delightful Quote of the Day

Annalise got a magazine in the mail that was full of fun toys to look at. She flipped through the pages over and over asking about EVERY toy, what their names were, what they did, and so on... Suddenly a little light went off in her head, she looked at me and climbed off the couch in a hurry and ran over to the coat closet.

As she ran she said "You have a toy, Mama.." She opened up the door and pointed inside and said, "See Mama, here's your toy!"

I looked that direction to see her pointing to the vacuum cleaner!

Delightful Quote of the Day

Annalise stayed up way past her bedtime last night and wanted to "snuggle" with me as I watched Dateline. Soon the snuggling turned into a total chatter fest with her talking non-stop!

ME: "Annalise, Mommy wants to watch her show, and if you can't stop talking, you need to go back to bed, OK?"

ANNALISE: gives little nod and turns to watch TV

Literally 1 second later...

ANNALISE: "See Mama, I'm not talking! I am being quiet for your show, Mama! You like your show, Mama?"

Thank goodness for DVR!

Delightful Quote of the Day

From my 2 year old daughter Annalise:

Me: "We need to go change your diaper."
Annalise: with fists clenched and shaking head "No, I can't change my mind."

Not so Delightful Quote of the Day

Angry about changing diaper...
Annalise: "I'm going to take a block to your head, Mommy."
